Daniel Cossins is head of features. He has been a features editor at New Scientist for nine years. He previously worked as a staff writer at The Scientist magazine in the US and BBC Magazines in Bristol, UK. He has a degree in history and an MA in historical research, both from the University of Sheffield, UK. He focuses mainly on the physical sciences – particularly cosmology, particle physics and condensed matter – but also writes and edits feature-length stories on everything from self-knowledge and avian vocal mimicry to the quest to decipher the lost language of the Incas encoded in intricately knotted cords.
